പത്തനംതിട്ട: ശനിയാഴ്ച ദിവസം കെ എസ് ആര്‍ ടി സി പത്തനംതിട്ട ബസ്സിൽ അരങ്ങേറിയത് നാടകീയമായ രംഗങ്ങൾ. പകൽ യാത്രക്കിടയിൽ ഒരു യാത്രക്കാരന് നെഞ്ചുവേദന അനുഭവപ്പെടുകയും, ബോധം മറയുകയുമായിരുന്നു. ബസ്സിലെ യാത്രക്കാർ പരിഭ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും, നിസ്സഹായരായി നോക്കി നിൽക്കുകയാണുണ്ടായത്.പത്തനംതിട്ടയിലെ ഒരു സ്വകാര്യ ഹോസ്പ്പിറ്റലിലെ ഡോ: മയാഖാ മറിയം മാത്യുവും, മറ്റു ചില സ്‌ത്രീകളുമാണ് ആ സമയത്ത് പരിശ്രമിച്ചത്. നേരിയ പൾസ് മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് ഇവർ CPR നൽകുകയും ,എത്രയും വേഗം ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടു പോകണമെന്ന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും ഉണ്ടായി. ആദ്യം ഒന്നു മടിച്ചെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് ഡ്രൈവർ സമ്മതിക്കുകയും ഉണ്ടായി.പുരുഷൻമാർ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള ബസിൽ ഈ സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ സഹായത്തിന് എത്തിയത് ഏതാനും സ്ത്രീകൾ മാത്രമാണ്. എന്നാൽ ഇക്കാര്യം ഒരു മാധ്യമങ്ങളും റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യ്തില്ല. മുറിഞ്ഞകൽ സ്വദേശിയായ രോഗിയേ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും ജീവൻ രക്ഷിക്കാനായില്ല. പത്തനംതിട്ടയിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെയും, കെ എസ് ആര്‍ ടി സി യുടേയും ഈ മനസ്സ് തീർച്ചയായും അഭിനന്ദനാർഹമാണ്.

……………………………………………………………………………….Today this happened in the ksrtc bus that i boarded; a man around 57yrs age had a heart attack episode. People did nothing to save him. Yet I am glad we could sustain his life till we handed over to the hospital.
I boarded this rushy bus just because it was the only bus that would get me to work & i really dint want to get late today. After half journey, I was jammed near the door when I vagely heard people saying a man is sick pls stop the bus. I stood high on my toes to get a glance and what i saw was this unconscious man who sat with his head leaned on the seat. I knew this wasn’t good and no one knew what to do.. i swimmed through the crowd and screamed asking them to make the person lie over. The men who sat beside got up and made space to put him in horizontal position. I by then reached over & grabbed his wrist looking for pulse. I dunno if it was the moving bus or the real absence of pulse,i couldn’t feel any !! I asked for his companion, but no one had accompanied him. He was on his own! I called out to this man as loud as i could whilst patting on his shoulders. A lady in front handed over a bottle of water, i poured a bit in my hand n sprinkled onto his face hoping to awaken him. No response! I asked ppl around me to pls tell the driver to rush the bus to hospital! People were so ignorant or heartless that they were all bothered to get down on their stops. After a while only did they really intend to get to the hospital ASAP. I searched his pocket for identity. I got phone and lot of money, which i placed back & handed the phone to a man beside me who called the last dialed number & conveyed the situation. By then a nurse, Sr.Ajina had come to help. There was also a mature lady doc who came to help. We started CPR. After a while we could feel a light pulse. The bus busted into the Muthoot hospital. The attenders came in and carried away the Patient into the hospital. There i stood shivering, wondering why no one helped us ladies, why no one helped the man. I was furious, i was sad, devastated by the thought that people just wanted to get down on their stops even when a man was going to die in front of them! I consoled myself thinking maybe they dint know what to do, maybe they dint want to get into any police case. My only hope was that the man lives. I’m happy atleast we could sustain his life till we handed him over to the hospital.
Above all i thank God for giving us the courage and strength to act spontaneously.
