രാജ്യത്തുടനീളമുള്ള മറ്റ് 9 ദേശീയ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള 1500 ഓളം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ സ്പോർട്സ് മീറ്റിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. 147 അംഗ സംഘവുമായി ഐസർ തിരുവനന്തപുരം എല്ലാ പരിപാടികളിലും സജീവമായി പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഭോപ്പാൽ, ബെർഹാംപൂർ, കൊൽക്കത്ത, പൂനെ, മൊഹാലി, തിരുപ്പതി, എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ ഐസറുകൾ, നാഷണൽ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് സയൻസ് എജ്യുക്കേഷൻ ആൻഡ് റിസർച്ച് ഭുവനേശ്വർ, സെന്റർ ഫോർ എക്‌സലൻസ് ഇൻ ബേസിക് സയൻസസ്, മുംബൈ, ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് സയൻസ്, ബംഗളൂരു എന്നിവയാണ് പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന മറ്റു സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ.
ക്രിക്കറ്റ്, ഫുട്ബോൾ, ബാസ്ക്കറ്റ്ബോൾ, ലോൺ ടെന്നീസ്, ടേബിൾ ടെന്നീസ്, ബാഡ്മിന്റൺ, വോളിബോൾ, കബഡി, ഖോ-ഖോ, അത്ലറ്റിക്സ് എന്നിവയാണ് കായികമേളയിലെ ഇനങ്ങൾ. ഡിസംബർ 29ന് നടക്കുന്ന സമാപന സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ സമ്മാന വിതരണത്തോടെ പരിപാടി സമാപിക്കും.
Tenth Inter-IISER Sports Meet begins
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram is hosting the 10th Inter-IISER Sports Meet (IISM) at its Vithura campus. The event was inaugurated by Director, Prof. J. N. Moorthy. In his inauguration speech, the Director emphasized the importance of sports events in the national integration, physical and mental well-being and development of sportsmanship in youth. The Director passed on the torch to the previous champions, IISER Bhopal, which was eventually entrusted to the athletes of the host institute, IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
Around 1500 students from 9 other national institutes of eminence across the country are participating in the ongoing Sports Meet. With a contingent strength of 147, IISER Thiruvananthapuram is actively participating in all the events. The participating institutes are IISERs at Bhopal, Berhampur, Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Tirupati, National Institute of Science Education and Research Bhubaneswar, Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai and Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru in addition to the students of IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
The events in the sports meet include cricket, football, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and athletics. The event will culminate in a Closing Ceremony on 29th December with prize distributions.
