2022 ൽ 93 ഐസിഎആർ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിൽ സിടിസിആർഐ 14 ആം സ്ഥാനം നേടിയതും ഗവർണർ എടുത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു .സി ടി സി ആർ ഐ പുതിയ സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയും നയങ്ങളും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നടത്തുന്ന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്കും അദ്ദേഹം ഊന്നൽ നൽകി .എല്ലാവരെയും ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയുള്ള വികസനം, ആരോഗ്യമുള്ള ഭാവി സൃഷ്ടിക്കൽ, തുടങ്ങിയ വീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ മുൻ നിറുത്തി ജീനോം എഡിറ്റിങ് ,വിളകളുടെ ബ്രീഡിങ് , സൂക്ഷ്മ കൃഷി എന്നിവയിൽ സി ടി സി ആർ ഐയുടെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ സന്തോഷമുണ്ടെന്നും ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു.
ധാന്യങ്ങളും പയറുവർഗ്ഗങ്ങളും കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട മൂന്നാമത്തെ ഭക്ഷണമാണ് കിഴങ്ങുവിളകൾ. കിഴങ്ങുവർഗ്ഗ വിളകളുടെ കാലാവസ്ഥാ പ്രതിരോധശേഷി അവയെ വിശ്വാസ്യ യോഗ്യമായമാക്കുന്നുവെന്നും ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. ഒരു കാലത്ത് പാവപ്പെട്ടവൻ്റെ ഭക്ഷണം എന്ന് വിളിച്ചിരുന്ന കിഴങ്ങ് വിളകൾക്ക് ഇന്ന് വലിയ ആവശ്യകതയാണ് ഉള്ളതെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. ആരോഗ്യ സംരക്ഷണത്തെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള ബോധവത്കരണങ്ങളെ തുടർന്ന് കിഴങ്ങ് വിളകളൾക്ക് വരും നാളുകളിൽ കൂടുതൽ സ്വീകാര്യത ലഭിക്കുമെന്നും ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. മൂന്നാം തവണ അധികാരമേറ്റതിന് ശേഷം പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി എടുത്ത ആദ്യ തീരുമാനം പി എം കിസാൻ നിധി ഗഡു വിതരണം സംബന്ധിച്ചാണ്. കാർഷിക മേഖലയോടുള്ള കേന്ദ്ര ഗവണ്മെന്റിന്റെ പ്രതിജ്ഞാബദ്ധത എടുത്ത് കാണിക്കുന്നതാണ് ഈ തീരുമാനമെന്നും ഗവർണർ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.
മികച്ച പ്രകടനം നടത്തിയ സി ടി സി ആർ ഐ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞർ, ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ എന്നിവരെ ചടങ്ങിൽ ആദരിച്ചു. ഐസിഎആർ- സിടിസിആർഐ ഡയറക്ടർ ഡോ. ജി ബൈജു, രാജീവ് ഗാന്ധി സെൻ്റർ ഫോർ ബയോടെക്‌നോളജി ഡയറക്ടർ ചന്ദ്രഭാസ് നാരായണ, ഐസിഎആർ-സിടിസിആർഐ ക്രോപ് പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻ വിഭാഗം മേധാവി പ്രൊഫ.ഡോ ജി സുജ തുടങ്ങിയവർ പങ്കെടുത്തു.
Kerala Governor graces the 61st foundation day of CTCRI
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan graced the 61st foundation day celebrations of ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) at Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram today.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Shri Arif Mohammad Khan lauded the achievements of ICAR-CTCRI, describing them as a silent revolution in the realm of food security. He underscored the evolution of tuber crops from being perceived as’Poor man’s food’ to becoming integral to Indian cuisine, even finding a place on five-star hotel menus. The Governor commended CTCRI for its relentless efforts in advancing tuber crop research and empowering farming communities across the country.
Governor also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to agriculture, highlighting that the first decision of the new government was related to the distribution of PM Kisan Nidhi installments.
During the event, the Governor presented awards to the best performing scientists, staff, and research scholars of ICAR-CTCRI. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. G Byju, Director of ICAR-CTCRI, and Prof. Chandrabhas Narayana, Director of Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, along with Dr. G Suja, Head of Division of Crop Production at ICAR-CTCRI.
The 61st foundation day celebration of ICAR-CTCRI highlighted ongoing advancements in tuber crop research and reiterated the institute’s commitment to agricultural innovation.
