മലപ്പുറത്ത് മാവോവാദികളെ പോലീസ് വെടിവച്ചു കൊന്നതിന്റെ ഒന്നാം വാര്ഷികത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് നാല് പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനുകളില് റെഡ് അലര്ട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന് അക്രമിച്ച് തിരിച്ചടി നല്കാനുള്ള സാധ്യതകണക്കില് എടുത്താണ് നടപടി. പോലീസ് സ്പെഷ്യല് രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണ വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ മുന്നറിയിപ്പിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് സുരക്ഷ ശക്തമാക്കിയത് .
